Amongst the 10,900 tech firms in the South West, Applegate made it into the top 30 for its innovative development of Artificial Intelligence in partnership with Exeter University, which CEO Stuart Brocklehurst believes is critical for the development of the Business within the next 5 years. CEO Brocklehurst commented “Machine learning can process vastly more data than humans, so identifying patterns and hence enabling better decision making (for us, selecting which suppliers are best placed to quote on a particular order) as well as supporting highly efficient growth. Over the next five years we’ll extend its application, supporting continued growth.”
South West England is increasingly a centre for technology development. The latest Tech Report 2018 states that tech clusters in Devon and Cornwall boosted Britain’s economy by £605 million last year.
