After we were officially acquired by Troy in the Autumn, we've been through a period of change that spells exciting times for our buyers, suppliers and all involved at Applegate.
As we prepare for a busy year in which our business operations are set to grow rapidly, we welcomed Kate and Ruby to the team at our Barnstaple office.
Kate has settled well into her role as Marketing Executive, saying "the team here are lovely, friendly and have been great at helping me understand the Marketing activities and needs of Applegate and Troy.
"There seems to be lots going on and to get involved in and there’s a great deal of cross team working, so plenty to learn!"
Originally from Bristol, Kate has lived in Devon for nine years and is a big fan of what the area has to offer.
"I love North Devon – the beaches, the walks, the outdoor lifestyle and it’s a great place to bring up my kids too."
Looking ahead to next year, Kate said: "I’m looking forward to getting involved in a mixture of projects. So far I’ve been working on a few emails, learning the systems and language used…and trying to remember everyone’s names and how they like their tea!"
Ruby joins us after recently completing her A-Levels at Petroc in Barnstaple.
Speaking of her time with Applegate so far, Ruby said: "it has been a learning curve in getting to grips with my new role, but I'm enjoying working in a business environment with lovely people.
"I've had previous experience in retail and I love chatting to people, so I'm looking forward to making and maintaining contacts with our buyers at Applegate."
"In 2023 I am looking forward to learning more about my role and becoming more confident in it whilst getting to know everyone at Applegate more!"
The integration of Applegate into The Troy Group is an exciting time for our suppliers. Named by BusinessLive as one of the South West companies to watch in 2023, the buying group has over 400+ selling sites and 300+ members across the UK, selling goods from over 400+ suppliers.
Joining Troy will give a boost to activity across our platform, with more buyer requests being submitted through our system in existing sectors like freight, print, and manufacturing, as well as opening the platform up to new sectors.
Our expertise in artificial intelligence and data was a key factor in the Exeter-based company acquiring Applegate. The links that we have with the University of Exeter, such as the Knowledge Transfer Partnership, is also a key reason for the acquisition.
