SupplyDevon which launched earlier this month is a new procurement platform, free to use for both buyers and suppliers in Devon.
Funded by the government’s Sustainable Innovation Fund, the initiative helps suppliers in Devon recover from the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The regional procurement platform has been developed by Applegate in partnership with Ghyston, one of the South West's leading software development companies and The University of Exeter.
For decades, Applegate has been the home of business buying, creating value for buyers by sourcing quotes from a comprehensive range of suppliers, saving time and money and helping them meet their supply needs. The artificial intelligence element of Applegate's matching engine has been further developed for SupplyDevon and taught to behave ethically.
Local suppliers and business owners in Devon can join SupplyDevon for free. The platform provides opportunities for suppliers to be matched to requests for quotation or tenders from other local businesses and organisations. Suppliers can manage their RFQs, view and respond all via an online platform - no downloads are required. Joining SupplyDevon means buyers can fulfil their supply needs locally and source efficiently, whilst limiting the carbon footprint of their procurement.
The platform enables buyers to identify suppliers within their district or county and compare aspects such as localism, quality and price. The matching engine used ensures buyer requests are sent only to relevant, local suppliers.
